Should we keep college away from politics?

There is a  political ambience in almost all of the colleges, especially in govt colllege. Elections are held for political post in these colleges. Crores of money is spend to fund these election. Delhi University, JNU election are few of the examples. Students spend less time on study and more time on politics. Should these elections be banned?
